July 2001

1 July

This time I really did feel like death. I was nauseous all day, and basically felt ill. There was no headache contribution, just an overall feeling of unwellness.

I eventually had brunch with Charlotte. We drove around for a bit and ended up at Joe's on Juniper. We parked in a park and pay lot and who should appear but Dan from the Local. He indicated that he lived across the road and that we could park there for free. Rock on!

DVDs had arrived recently, so in my not-well-feeling state, I decided that watching some might be fun. I ended up settling for The Black Adder.

Drive to Nashville with Sarah.

2 July

Working in Nashville.

Got an email today that ostensibly was offering me a bet. It wasn't a bet. A bet is when you wager something on a game of chance; if luck is on your side you win and take an additional prize; if not, you lose your wager. This was not a bet.

This instead was an offer for me to eat at a nice restaurant if I were to give up certain behaviours for a period of time. I'm sorry, but that ain't going to fly with me, especially since I could go to those restaurants if I wanted to anyway.

3 July

Drove back from Nashville. Went to the Local. Big night. Lots of people showed up. Huge tab. Then went to Masquerade. Scott dropped me home. Heaps big fun.

4 July

What better way to enjoy the United States of America's celebration of independence than by watching the British Lions demolish the Wallabies in Brisbane. Hell yeah. That was a great game of rugby, found while channel surfing and bumping into Fox Sports World. It turns out they will be playing the Tri Nations games, so for future reference:

  • July 21, 11:00, NZ vs SA (live from SA)
  • July 28, 11:00, Aus vs SA (live from SA)
  • August 11, 22:30, NZ vs Aus (live from NZ)
  • August 18, 05:00, Aus vs SA (live from Aus)
  • August 25, ??:??, NZ vs SA (live from NZ)
  • September 1, 05:00, NZ vs Aus (live from Aus)

Hrm, I seem to be missing a NZ vs SA game (not any more - 25Aug01). Oh well. Anyway, all the games get replayed several times so if I miss it live, I should still see the games.

Anyway, after the rugby, I drove John and Charlotte out to Paula's place for a cookout and fireworks. Didn't really get to spend any time with Deann, which was unfortunate. A bunch of people sat around outside while others (like Arcel and Deann stayed inside. Later, when it got dark, we played with whoosh fireworks and sparkle fireworks and pop fireworks and BANG! fireworks. It was fun.

5 July

Drove back up to Nashville.

6 July

Drove home from Nashville. I've driven over 1000 miles this week... Stopped in at work and spent an hour and half or so sorting things out for Monday. Will still need to go in for a bit on Saturday.

Phone wasn't working when I got home, so I called BellSouth. Ugh, they suck. John and Charlotte headed off to Louisville for the weekend. Have fun kids. Lauren is also away this weekned, road tripping with Shawn up to Chicago. She'll be flying back Monday night.

Went to the Local for dinner. Clair joined me for a drink. Also saw the usual Local crew out. Then Clair and I went to Cyberia. More heaps big fun. Kristina (as in Will and Kristina) was at there. I didn't recognise her at first (well, I did, but couldn't put a name to the face). I felt so silly. But we had a good old chat. I think I'm going to have to go up to Albany some time to hang with them. Michele and her friend from out of town (Christina) turned up and I spent good time with them. Also flirted with other wonderful peoples. Heheh. Clair and I went to Majestic for a 4am breakfast; ran into Russ and Heather. Went home, tried to watch Flatliners but fell asleep.

7 July

Apparently the Wallabies beat the Lions today. Oh well. I might see if Dan will show the game at the Local tonight (it's being replayed at 8pm).

But anyways, I awoke at 8:30 and couldn't get back to sleep. Bother. So I got up and pottered around the place for a bit. Then I went in to work around 11 o'clock and was there until about 13:30. Came home and did laundry. Read for a little bit and tried (unsuccessfuly) to take a nap.

Around 7ish I popped over to Lauren's to check on Thurston and then wandered over to the Local. Ben and Ron were watching the Braves game and then heading over to Dad's Garage, so I had control of the TV from 8pm, and hence the rugby was on. One of Tracy's friends was at the bar and I chatted with her for a while, too. Later, all the regular peeps turned up. I mentioned to Keith about our upcoming party. He was supposed to be be returning to Panama on the 20th, but he said he might stay a couple of extra days.

8 July

Took the car to Cactus Car Wash today for a bath. I was heading home afterwards and I realised that it was 2pm and that it would be a good idea to stop in at Apres Diem for brunch. This was a very good idea, because Russ was there with Gabby, whose 20th birthday it was. Gabby is cute. I had seen her out at the Vault and at 9Lives (where I may have drunkenly asked who she was), but now I was actually able to meet her properly.

But, yes, brunch was good. Afterwards I came home and did some more laundry and tidying. Then a mass of women invaded the place.

9 July

After work, I journeyed out to Gwinnet County to pick up Rosalie. She has just moved there from Smyrna. The apartment (which she shares with Wendy and Luca) is pretty cool. Once collected, Rosalie and I headed down to HI Fi Buys Ampitheatre to see Poe and Depeche Mode. This was an awesome concert. I didn't know much about Poe, but she put on an entertaining set. And Depeche Mode were great.

After the show we fought our way through the crowds to the parking lot, but it appeared that it was going to take a long time to get out to the road. Then we noticed one or two cars disappearing up a little side road, so we followed them and made it out in no time. Rock on for secret-squirrel side roads.

Then we went to Riviera for the after party. This was also much fun. We left around 1am, as it was going to take an hour for me to get Rosalie home and then get myself to bed.

10 July

I was pretty tired today, considering last night's late night and this morning's early rise for an 8:30am staff meeting. But I made it through the day, even though it was broken up by having to go out to Perimeter to set up a vending machine. Oh well.

After work, I picked up Lauren and we went out for dinner at Veni Vedi Vici. The was a splendid meal. We had a nice Chianti that got better as it breathed. We started with some appetisers (feta raviolli and small pieces of lobster), had salad (caesar for him, mushroom for her) and the main courses were outstanding (Lauren had salmon, I had cow). Both meals were presented beautifully and had terrific vegetable accompaniments. Desert was divine; I just wish I could tell you what it was.

11 July

I spent several hours working on the vending machine from yesterday trying to get the dial-a-vend part working. We managed to get a prtial solution working. Oh well.

After work I came home and watched a little TV with John. The Daily Show reran an interview between John Stewart and Posh and Baby Spice. John was taking the piss and Posh didn't get it until later. She was very pissed off when she realised. Oh well. Baby held her own, though.

Then we headed to the Local for Trivia. Jenny and Charlotte joined us, and we sucked arse. Oh well, so it goes. After the game, John, Jenny and I hung out for a bit and then we all went home. Ben and Bill bitched at me because their names were not yet mentioned in my journal. So this has now been corrected. :-)

Lauren picked me up and we headed over to Nomenclature. This was fun, also.

12 July

13 July

After work I came home and found that my phone was out again. The DSL was working, which was a little odd. I tried several times to call BellSouth, but there was never a pickup; not even into a queueing system.

So I preped for going out: shaved all those bits that needed shaving, showered all those bits that needed showering, and then hung out with Sarah for a little bit. At seven o'clock, Sarah kindly dropped me off at Front Page News where I was to meet Peter and Chris. We hung out there for numerous hours, drinking beer and whiskey and eating a damn fine meal. The Brits were suitably impressed by the view.

From Front Page News we wandered to the Cheetah. As I may have mentioned before, Cheetah is a strip club. It's a very tasteful strip club, as far as strip clubs go. We were suitably entertained for some time and then one of the girls came down and chatted to me for a bit. Her name was Tyler. A little while later she came back with a friend and Peter and I popped off with them for a very pleasant lap dance. We chatted to the girls for some time after the dance but as the time approached 11:45, I decided it was time to move on.

14 July

When I awoke again, I was hangoverless. Rock on!. The phone was still out and I still counldn't get hold of BellSouth on my mobile. Annoying.

In the eveningtime, I went to Lauren's, where Clair had arrived. We wandered over to the Local for some dinner and a drink. From there we went to Nikki and Thompson's flat warming.

We stayed at the party for an hour or so and then headed down to Masquerade for Secret Room. I hadn't planned on it, and I thought that it would suck. But it didn't. It was actually lots of fun. This because they weren't stopping people dancing to do silly shows.

After we were finally evicted from the club, Lauren and I went back to her place and we tried to watch Snatch. Lauren caved first and went to bed. I lasted a little longer before realising I was crashing out, too. So I switched everything off and went to sleep, also.

15 July

A little after three, Steve and Tim turned up for our semiregular whiskey tasting afternoon. This was supremely enjoyable. We drank some fine single malts, had some great conversation, watched some episodes of The Black Adder, and caught Sunday night TV. Charlotte brought over left over food from her dinner on Friday night, and that was delicious. She also brought a very tasty sponge cake.

16 July

I finally managed to get hold of BellSouth repairs and they said that the phone would be fixed by 7pm Wednesday.

17 July

Tim's birthday. I think he was 32 today. Practically an old man.

John and I went to Ansley Mall to pick up Tim a bottle of bourbon, and then headed up to the Local. Surprisingly, he wasn't there when we got there. So we ate, and watched TV, and chatted to Tracy. Jesse turned up and then Charlotte. Then the mob started coming on in. Turned into quite a fun night. John was really rather drunk when he and Charlotte left.

18 July

This morning I went on an adventure to the Georgia Department of Motor Vehicles to renew the registration on my car. FOr some reason my brand new car only came with two months registration. Craziness. John gave me directions, and I found the place with little difficulty (I stopped in at the Courthouse first). Surprisingly, there was nobody about at all, and the entire process was pretty much painless. Except for the $280 check (if it's in the US, I'll write 'check,' if it's elsewhere, I'll write 'cheque'). Fortunately I can claim that back from the sompany.

I got home and the phone was still not working. At 7pm I rang BellSouth and eventually got through. They promised it would be fixed by 7pm tomorrow. This is ridiculous.

Wednesday is Trivia night. And we sucked monumental arse. We got two questions right in the entire first round. That's two out of nine. We got the half time question completely correct and we did pretty well in the second half. We got the final question right, and ended up only three points behind third place. Ah well, it was a bit of an improvement.

After the game, Lauren and Glenn turned up and later on, so did Brett. But John and I were both tired, so we headed home. We were hom ein time to catch the end of The Daily Show and then it was bed.

19 July

I was IMed by Michele today, who was back from her recent road trip. She saw Echo and the Bunnymen in Cleveland and Detroit. I'm not really a fan of the Bunnymen, but I did like Ian's side project, Electrafixion.

After work, Lauren and I went to Piercing Experience so Lauren could get her eyelets put in. They didn't look as bad as I had expected (and feared).

After the ears were seen too, our stomachs were, at Dish in Virginia Highlands. I think Dish is owned by the same people who own Spice. It was very tasty, whatever the case may be. We had a bottle of pinot noir, which, upon tasting I though was a little shy of the flavour I desired, but which actually complemented our tuna appetizer very nicely. We each had a salad, and then Lauren had a salmon main course, and I had the red snapper special. Both were very delicious. We rounded out our meal with a dsert called "Chocolate Dish." It won't take much to determine what was in that.

I dropped Lauren off and headed home. I was in time to chat alittle with John and then watch The Daily Show. Or should I say, fall asleep during The Daily Show. Oh well.

20 July

At lunch I popped up to Microcenter and bought myself an optical mouse for my laptop and a DSL router with build-in firewall. It was a pretty quick setup when I got home, and now I have a happy little internet-linked LAN for my PC and my laptop and for Sarah whenever she's around.

Given that my work day started at 6am with a page and having to deal with issues related to our new upgrade, and given that I will be driving to Nashville on Sunday, I decided that it would be fair for me to leave a little early today. So I did. I went home and installed my new router, and then got my PC and laptop talking to each other, and then played around a little bit. This included updating the journal a little.

Once things were sorted on the computer front, I went on a little adventure looking for a birthday present for John. Once that was accomplished I headed to Lauren's, where we partook of some very tasty wine. Once Lauren was ready, she and I made our usual jaunt to Cyberia, where the tab was much more manageable than the last one. I played plenty of pool with Christian, which was heaps big fun. Sherrod was out for the first time in god knows how long. Overall, the club was kind of quiet; not as many people as normal. But it was fun. Afterwards, we went back to Lauren's and hung out for a bit. Brad turned up a little while later and I made myself scarce, shooting up to City Cafe for some Chicken Slouvaki. Yummy.

21 July

John's 30th birthday. Old man.

So I gave John a couple of books of letters by Hunter S Thompson and a book of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Models around the world. Aww yeah. I think he will enjoy all three. :-)

Sarah and Alice took John out for breakfast and I watched the All Blacks beat the Springboks, live, in an awesome game of rugby. The score was 12-3. No tries were scored, but only because the defense of both teams was so strong. Great game.

They all came back, and after John had taken off to spend some time with Earl, Sarah and I worked on cleaning the place up a bit and then heading out to pick up liquor. We set up some decorations, and got a phone call from our landlord saying that one of our neighbours had called him to say that it looked like we were having a party. We told him, "sure, we're having John's 30th birthday party." And Terry's response was pretty much along the lines of, "Have fun, but keep the noise down."

Charlotte took John out for sushi, and Sarah and Alice went off somewhere else. So I was left to guard the fort. With, keg, margaritas, fruit punch, and christ knows how much more alcohol, I knew that tonight was going to be a crazy night. And it was. I spent quality time with most of the people I wanted to spend quality time with (in particular: Grace, Heather, Lauren, Rosalie), and I also spent time with people I hadn't seen in a while, such as Herb. There was also plenty of new people. The place was packed. I think we had two police visitations, but they went over okay. In all, a great party for John. Yay for John!

Charlotte got a picture of me before the party and Joe got a picture of me during the party. Both are pretty good pictures, I think.

22 July

As is normal after our parties, I was the first up, and I wandered around picking up all the cans and bottles and cups. The first pass of the cleanup. When I had gotten done with that, I started some laundry and paged Lauren. She was awake and so we arranged for me to pick her up and we went to Radial Cafe for breakfast. This was tasty, per the norm. We both had the Radial Omelette. Yummy.

After breakfast we stopped by Blockbuster to pick up a couple of movies. The one we watched was What Women Want. I really had no intention of seeing this movie. It was really quite appalling. But Lauren liked it. I did laugh at a couple of bits, but overall it was trash.

I came home after the movie to finish my laundry and hit the road for Nashville. John and Sarah went for a bike ride and Charlotte and Jenny went to do something else. Dunno what. Anyway, I got my shit together, wandered down to the car and... Damn. Sarah's car was parked behind mine. So I wandered back upstairs and watched TV until Saraha and John got back. Sarah had gotten a flat tire, so they were longer than they had planned. So it was pretty late by the time I got on my way. Oh well.

23 July

Today I was running the show in Nashville. This was a pretty good experience. Didn't really geta chance to eat, and dinner was pretty half-arsed as I had some calling to NZ to get done. Ah well, it was a day in which lots got accomplished.

However, there was some downside. I paged Lauren to see what she was up to, and she paged me back to say that Jen had been taken to hospital. She had been in a car accident on Friday and although she seemed okay afterwards then, she had some issues while at work this evening. Fortunately she's okay, but it was a bit of a scare. Then at 12:30, I got a call from Jenny, who was upset about the nature of our relationship. I really didn't need that. I just wanted sleep. Sure we're still friends, but don't expect me to be your best friend. I'm not interested.

24 July

Up early and in to the plant to get as much done as possible. Turned into a long day. Ah well, so it goes on the big jobs.

After work I had dinner at Outback Steakhouse. It was just plain necessary.

25 July

Another long day in Nashville and then I drove home. Various people wanted me to go out, but I was just too tired. So I got an earlyish night.

26 July

I'll come back and update the previous days soon. If they've already been updated, then you know I've done this in a backwards sort of order.

After work I picked up Lauren and we went to see Legally Blonde. It was fun. I liked it. Not a particularly mind-stretching film, but fun, nonetheless.

After the film, we went to The Local for a drink and some food. And some conversation. The nature of the conversation has left me philosophical. In spite of the fact that I went to a concert afterwards (more about that below). Lauren asked, "Do you believe that there's one person in the world for everyone?" Or something like that. My reply was along the lines of, "I hope not, because if there is I think I've already met her and lost her." Which brought me to talking about Amanda. In the seven years since we broke up, nobody I have dated has aroused anywhere near the same emotional response in me as Amanda did. I think, of all the women/girls/whatever I've known since Amanda, my strongest feelings are for Lauren, who I consider one of my best friends ever. But that is a different sort of emotion than that I felt/feel for Amanda. Or for any of my other girlfriends for that matter.

It's really silly for me to have these sorts of feelings still for Amanda. It was years ago; she's married now. Christ. Married. To think, if I had realised that all I needed was a bit of a break rather than a break-up, how things could have been so different now. I probably wouldn't be here in Atlanta. And in a way, I guess I'm glad of the way things worked out, because of all the great people I've met. But still, one can't help but wonder what might have been.

As for the girls I've dated or thought I've fallen in love with here in the US. For the most part I've been kidding myself. I've been cynical about love since 1995, and my attempts since then have just been to prove myself wrong. And that really hasn't worked. So, really, I'm now just in it for the sex. And why not? Sex is fun.

I went down to Masquerade after the pub, to check out the LA Guns and Faster Pussycat show. I caught the end of LA Guns. Then I went wandereing and came back to catch the start of Faster Pussycat. They started with Bathroom Wall and did a medley of stuff from their first album. The only other one I recognised was Where There's a Will There's A Way. They had chunked up the distortion quite a lot compared to the original. It was a little different. They played a bunch of new stuff which I didn't know, and then I went home. My mood had gotten the better of me.

27 July

Work was okay. I got a bunch of stuff done, which was nice. I'm off next week on my little jaunt to San Francisco. Woohoo!

After work, Brad and I went to Padriac's in Vinings for a couple of beers and a good yarn. This was very refreshing. Then I came home, shaved my head, had a shower, and updated the webby stuff. John, Charlotte and Jenny went off to see Cake at Centennial Park. I think I would have liked to have gone, since I like Cake. Oh well. I'll make plans with Lauren instead. Of course, we will be going to Cyberia later anyway...

28 July

I popped on round to Lauren's at some point. I think we were going to do brunch. Of course, I might have the day completely wrong. Anyway, Brad was leaving after picking up his "costume" from the party last week. Thurston wandered into the kitchen for a bit before coming back to strike a Thurston pose. Of course, no shoot is complete with a picture of Thurston lounging. Yay for Thurston.

Secret Room at Masquerade. Jason asked me to DJ. Heheh

29 July

Five o'clock comes round and so do Scott, Dan and Shannon. Shannon was driving us to the airport for our much anticipated San Francisco adventure. The traffic was pretty heavy and the airport very busy, but we were all set well in advance of our departure time. So we headed to Concourse E and the swank Delta Crown Room. I have flow so few times this year that I really have to make the most of the $300 I paid in membership dues. Scott and I hung out there for half an hour or so, sipping on a tasty beverage (vodka tonic for Scott, Makers Mark on the rocks for me).

As it approached 7pm we headed back to Concourse D and gate D3. The gate was a madhouse. Scott went and got some snacks as we waited to board. Eventually we got on the plane.

We were getting very hungry by the time we got to Phoenix, but the oprtions were not looking so good, so we settled Burger King. It was not a good Burger King. Ah well. I noticed about this point that my voice was becoming increasingly croaky. This was not a good sign.

I slept pretty much the entire flight from Phoenix to San Francisco. I needed it. But my voice was in no better state when we got to California. We collected Scott's luggage and waited for Dan to arrive (he was flying Frontier). Then it was off to find the courtesy shuttle to the Ramada Inn. Checking in was a breeze and it was off to bed.

The temperature ion each location we had been today varied considerably. Atlanta was in the 80's (high 20's C) and very humid; Phoenix, at 9pm, was 102 (39C) and dry. San Francisco, at midnight was in the mid 50s (~13C).

Oh, on the flight from Phoenix I had a dream in which I read some amazingly poetic lines of proces, and struggled to keep them in my mind as I recognised I was waking up. Alas, they were gone by the time I opened my eyes.

One more thing. Before sleep, I decided that I we definitely going to go ahead with a new piercing. I will be waiting a couple of weeks before doing it, but I'm really excited about it. More details when it is done...

30 July

I woke up a few times during the night, but on the whole my sleep was pretty good. I had some good dreams (details not so clear, but they were good, happy dreams). It was now time to explore San Francisco, so we jumped in the car and raced up US101.

Our first stop was 3Com Park, where the San Francisco 49ers play that bizarre game called American Football. We took some photos for posterity and headed onwards. Unfortunately we got a little bit twisted up getting to I-280 and stopped for a quick snack at McDonald's. Once we sorted ourselves out, our next stop was Pacific Bell Park, home to the San Francisco Giants. They play baseball. We parked the car and wandered around the stadium. It's a really nice, big stadium, located right on the bay. We got a couple more "I'm here" photo's and moved on in our explorations.

From the baseball field we followed the shoreline on The Embarcadero before cutting back inland to tackle some steep streets in our mission to get to the tower at Telegraph Hill. We found a place to park and wandered up the last part of the hill. This provided a great view of the city (downtown and around town) and the Bay, including both the Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge, and, of course, Alcatraz. Unfortunately, there was low cloud across the mouth of the bay, which hid much of the Golden Gate Bridge. The view of the top was also quite pleasant.

On our way down the hill back to the car, I noticed a little memorial to Marconi, without whose pioneering work, Telegraph Hill would still be a beacon. (And I wouldn't be doing the job I'm in now...)

Our next planned destination was Chinatown. We drove around looking for somewhere to park, but, failing in this task, we did succeed in parking in Japantown. Lunch was taken at Sapporo-Ramen, a noodle restaurant. I started with sashimi that was the largest cuts of tuna that I had ever had from sushi. And so delicious. For my main course I had pork Yaki Soba. This also was awesome - fresh noodles, fresh vegetables and pig. Yum yum!

After lunch we wandered around the mall, starting with a Japanese antiques store and then spening a lot of time in the Japanese bookshop. I ended up picking up a bok examining the social and cultural background of anime and the themes expressed in Japanese animated films and TV programs.

Our next destination was Haight St, the focal point of the 60's hippy movement. At John's recommendation, I hunted out Amoeba Music. This turned into an expensive stop, with me purchasing several CDs, by the likes of Manic Street Preachers, Bis, Barry Adamson, Cocteau Twins, and more. We left before I could spend even more money. We stopped in ata convenience store to get water and a disposable camera. As we were paying for our supplies, Scott espied a familiar face. He rushed from the store - Bernard Sumner was going into Amoeba. Scott went to say hello, but Bernard said that he was mistaken. This was not the case, as we later determined that one of this fellow's compatriots was New Order's producer.

We then proceeded to wander along Haight St, checking out the shops and the Locals. I ended up buying a light windbreaker. We stopped for a few drinks at Hobson's Choice at the corner of Haight and Ashbury. Scott and Dan had to step outside mid-drink, as it was illegal for them to have a cigarette at the bar. Heheh. After the beers we headed back to the hotel.

Details to be filled in soon

31 July

Feeling very rough this morning, not surprisingly. We took our sorry selves across the road to IHOP for breakfast. It helped. A little. Then Dan wasnted to get more rest, so Scott and I went for a drive to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Driving around the town was fun, and then we drove over the bridge and up along the northestern side of the Bay for a while. We did some more drive-around type exploring, and I got a little lost coming back, but we made it back to the hotel in one piece. We sorted our shit out and then headed south on US101 to Mountain View, in the heart of Silicon Valley.

The drive down was interesting, checking out the various technology farms around the place. Oracle, SGI, many others I can't remember. The venue, Shoreline Ampitheatre, was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. We found our way in with little difficulty and located a schedule. We had some time to get a drink and some food and then locate our seats.

As we were wandering from the foodish area to the ampitheatre bit, I thought I passed an old fried from school. The height was about right, and the hair was in the sort of style he'd wear, but he had a silly little piece of facial hair and was wearing sunglasses so I couldn't see his eyes. I had been told he was moving out this way, but didn't know if he'd be here. Of course, being a big fan of New Order and (I suspect) Oakenfold, he probably would be. So, was it you?

The stage was being set up for New Order when we got to our seats. We were in the first block of seats back from the stage, over to the left of the stage. The view was pretty good. We had our beer (it was pretty foul, and my stomach was not liking it one bit) and waited for New Order to come on. When they came on, everyone cheered. Bernard introduced their stand-in gutarist, Mr Billy Corgan, and he got a big cheer, too. And then they got down to business, starting with Atmosphere. The set list continued with:

  • Atmosphere
  • Regret
  • Crystal
  • Love Will Tear Us Apart
  • Your Silent Face
  • Turn My Way
  • Bizarre Love Triangle
  • True Faith
  • Temptation
  • 60 MPH
  • Blue Monday

It was great. Amazing. Bernard was jumping around the place, and Peter Hook was playing with the audience and making comments to Billy Corgan. THey were all obviously having a great time. This was definitely well worth the money paid to come out and see them. Hopefully they will do a full US tour later in the year.

After New Order finished we made our way to the DJ/dance tent to check out what Paul Oakenfold was up to. Mixing up a storm was what he was up to. The tent was packed and hot and sweaty and just totally going off. We stayed there for about half an hour before I needed a break from the heat and wandered back out. Then we got something more to eat and drink and checked out some of the side booths, in particular the Intel booth. This booth had some cool little toys to play with. The it was back to the ampitheatre to check out Moby.

Moby came on and all you could around the ampitheatre was glowsticks being twirled. It looked very cool. Moby made some comments about the early rave days in San Francisco in 91 and then launched into a great set of edgy dance and rave songs. I was very impressed. He was bouncing all over the stage and having a huge fun time.

Then it was time to go home. We made our way out of the grounds and into the carpark. And realised that we couldn't find the car. Hrm, then we determined that we'd entered the wrong parking lot and got ourselves sorted out. I fel asleep on the way back to San Fran; it had been a most excellent day.
