Film

I like movies. I don't go to many, because most are drivel.

However, there have been a few films that I have enjoyed and will keep giving me faith in celluloid as an artistic medium. Films that fall into this group include

stuff by Terry Gilliam (Brazil, Baron Munchausen, 12 Monkeys)
films by Peter Greenaway (The Cook The Thief His Wife and Her Lover, The Pillow Book, Prospero's Books, Secrets and Lies)

The Usual Suspects

May 26, 2008 15:00	Iron Man	Abosulutely awesome. Perfect balance of special effects and Robert Downey Jr was perfect.

January 20, 2008 23:30	The Departed	[DVD] Damn. Brutal. Really fucking good.
January 20, 2008 21:00	Underworld	[TV] An interesting twist on vampires and werewolves. Enjoyed it.
January 20, 2008 00:30	The Bourne Ultimatum	[DVD] A decent conclusion (of sorts) to the series. Some good action.
January 19, 2008 22:30	Superbad	[DVD] Very funny.
January 18, 2008 22:50	Underworld: Evolution	[Blu] Enjoyable enough. Very pretty, especially in high definition.
January 11, 2008 20:00	Shoot 'Em Up	[VOD] Just what the title says. So funny I cried. I laughed so hard my head hurt. Who needs a decent plot?
January 04, 2008 22:00	Sweeny Todd	Entertaining - whodathunk Johnny Depp could sing.
January 03, 2008 20:00	Juno	A very entertaining and funny tale of teen pregnancy and adoption. Several great performances.
December 20, 2007 22:30	Spiderman 3	[VOD] Rather disappointing, really. Too many stories going on, that didn't really work well together.
November 24, 2007 19:30	Control	Bio-pic of Ian Curtis. Very well made, and very moving. The actors perform all the Joy Division songs themselves, and make for decent-enough likenesses of the people they are portraying.
November 05, 2007 22:00	1408 (Directors Cut)	[VOD] A recent Stephen King horror flick with Juhn Cusack and Samuel L Jackson. Some good effects, but fairly predictable.
August 18, 2007 21:00	Stardust	A cute fantasy movie with some good laughs
June 22, 2007 23:00	The Last Castle	[TV] An interesting movie set in a military prison.
June 16, 2007 22:00	Hot Fuzz	Funniest movie I've seen in ages. Absolutely fucking brilliant. I will own this.
June 15, 2007 20:00	Pirates of the Carribean 3	Had good funny bits, had good action bits, had a lot of long bits where not much happenned. It felt like three hours.
June 10, 2007 23:30	Final Desination 2	[TV] Rather silly really
June 09, 2007 20:00	Starship Troopers	[VOD] Silly science fiction action film based loosely on the Heinlein novel of the same name. Largely fluff, but entertaining enough, and nifty special effects.
April 08, 2007 20:30	Grindhouse	Fan-fucking-tastic. Awesome. Go see it.
March 09, 2007 22:15	300	Visually amazing adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel about the Battle of Thermopylae. The biggest weak point - the comic book-style dialogue remains. Still, a great film.
January 19, 2007 19:30	Pan's Labyrinth	Awesome. Very pretty and very brutal.
January 07, 2007 21:30	Howl's Moving Castle	[DVD] Very entertaining anime.
